Wayist understanding of Justice
Jesus Christ said that we should not keep ourselves busy with the concept of metaphysical justice because it is not our domain. However, in disregard of the honorable Teacher’s instructions, we will write a line or two about it.
Some people derive some peace of mind from knowing how the Law of Karma works with regard to educating troublesome students on the Way. These people need to know that a wrong committed against someone will not go unpunished. No matter how much we tell them that Karma is not punishment, they do derive a sense of justice from the knowledge that a so-called ‘evil-doer’ will reincarnate to a context where he or she will be the victim on the receiving end of similar crimes. Karma will continue to bring such experiences to the individual until s/he has finally learned the wisdom to do the right things automatically (this is called doing one’s dharma). The individual may or may not have known a different way of doing things when s/he first caused harm in this regard—therefore it may or may not have been a ‘sin’ or necessarily a ‘wrong’ action at the time. However, Karma will help all people to learn the wisdom to the highest form of conduct, thinking, and attitude a human being can possess. Such a soul is thereby prepared for the process to transform (metamorphose or evolve) into a spiritual being.
